Definition of apprenticeships levy

The apprenticeships levy is due to come into force from April 2017, and will be charged at 0.5 percent of an employers pay bill, although as there is a £15,000 allowance for all employers, the levy will only be paid on pay bills in excess of £3 million. This means it will only be paid by larger employers.

The levy is designed to fund new apprenticeships and support investment into apprentices’ training. [1]
