Definition of country by country reporting

The disclosure by a company, either publically or in confidence to governments, of tax figures and, potentially, other financial data on a country-by-country basis. There is a level of country-by-country reporting to tax authorities which companies are being required to undertake following the recommendations of the BEPS project.

So-called public country-by-country reporting via open access websites etc is currently required only in certain industry sectors and in particular countries (e.g. under CRD IV, the EU Accounting and Transparency Directives and the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative). [1]
