Definition of technical default

Technical default is a short fall in a loan agreement which does not arise from a failure to make payments.

Example

This deficiency could be failure to pay building maintenance and repairs, property taxes, homeowners’ insurance premiums and for a company it may be failing to meet promised operating ratios. [1]
